Scope Note: In 1956, by terms of Public Law 941, 84th Congress, transferred to the Public Health Service, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, as the National Library of Medicine. To be established on this site in 1961, the 125th anniversary of its founding. Speakers included Champ Lyons, Willilam R. Andrew, Arthur S. Flemming, John E. Fogarty, Melvin R. Laird, Gordon Allott, Lister Hill, and R. E. Handran. Music by the United States Army Band.
