Author: Cummings, Martin Marc, 1920-2011
Title: The U.S. National Library of Medicine, 1981
Occasion: Presented to the staff of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Canada.
MMC Commentary: This speech attempted to outline the modern library information services available to Canada through the U.S. National Library of Medicine. It provided me an opportunity to express my belief that hospital libraries were an important element in the medical library network, since this is the natural base where physicians see the sick and disabled patients, and when the physicians often have the need for medical information.
