Creator: Schwabe, Calvin Walter Dates: 1944-1992Extent: 43 linear feet (34 boxes, 27 volumes) Abstract:Dr. Calvin Schwabe, veterinarian and public health scientist, has been throughout his career a leading worker at the interface of human and veterinary medicine. Dr. Schwabe was a member of the medical and public health faculties of the American University of Beirut, where he developed a significant research program on hydatid disease and other parasitic zoonoses, founded a joint Department of Tropical Health within those two faculties in l957, and a Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health in l962. He also established the first department and graduate program in epidemiology within a school of veterinary medicine at the University of California, Davis.
