Abstract:George Edward Burch, an internationally known cardiologist, received his medical degree from Tulane University Medical School, joined the school's Department of Medicine in 1934, and has been affiliated with Tulane University since that time. Abstract:Michael Ellis DeBakey made significant contributions to cardiovascular medicine throughout his long career at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Personal material, correspondence, administrative and medical records, writings, conference and awards files, subject files, photographs, audiovisual media, and artifacts gathered from DeBakey's home document his personal life and career as a surgeon, inventor, and medical statesman.

Abstract:Dr. Emile Holman was professor of surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine, 1926-1955. In his later years Holman became actively involved in political and social issues, particularly the anti-war movement. Dr. Holman was interested in the history of surgery and included in the collection is material on William S. Halsted. The collection contains correspondence, diaries, reprints, printed matter, diplomas and certificates.
