Biography of S. M. Bemiss, a Kentucky physician who later served in the Confederate army, taught at the Universities of Louisville and Louisiana, edited the New Orleans medical and surgical journal, and served as chairman of the Yellow Fever Commission and the committee on contagious diseases of the National Board of Health. Includes foreword by Irvine H. Page, M.D.
