Collection Scope and Content Note
Letters and copies of letters, 1930-1939, sent between Dr. Harvey Cushing and officials at the Army Medical Library regarding Cushing's research in the history of medicine and his efforts on behalf of the Library to secure funds from the federal government for a new Library building. Army Medical Library correspondents include Gen. Merritte W. Ireland, Maj. Edgar E. Hume, Col. Harold Jones, and Maj. Gen. C. R. Reynolds as well as Fielding H. Garrison during his tenure at the Welch Library at Johns Hopkins.
